School Site Closed to Students – Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th June
The Met Office has issued a RED weather warning for extreme heat on Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th June.
Because most of our buildings cannot be cooled adequately and there is little shade outside, we have taken the difficult decision to close the school site on both days. All trips and other scheduled activities are also cancelled.
Remote Learning
Teachers will ensure that there is work on Google Classroom, to be completed in accordance with your child’s usual timetable.
Students should complete and submit the tasks so their teacher can see what they have understood.
Mock examinations for Years 10 and 12 for the two days will be rescheduled, and your child should use the time wisely, to complete more revision.
If your Year 12 child was due to take part in the Year 12 UCAS trip on Wednesday, we are in touch with the venue, and will update you ASAP.
We will endeavour to rearrange the Key Stage 3 Celebration Evening for Year 9 – it may be that this will now take place after the summer break.
Year 5 Parent/Carer Open Morning on Thursday 25th June has been rescheduled to Thursday 2nd July 2026. All bookings for Thursday 25th June will be automatically transferred to the new date, so no further action is required if you are able to attend on 2nd July.
Tomorrow (Tuesday 23rd) – AMBER warning – School is open as normal. However, we recognise that some children cope with heat less well than others; if you judge it best for your child to stay home, please let us know and we will record the absence appropriately.
Tuesday 23rd and Friday 26th June – Both days are non-uniform. If your child has PE, they should wear PE kit.
We do not take these decisions lightly. If you have any questions, please do contact us.
Thank you for your understanding.
