The Buckingham School is yet again celebrating its best ever A-Level and BTEC results, achieving a value added score of +0.28.  In plain terms, that means our students achieved around a quarter of a grade more in every subject than students with similar GCSE results across the country - and it confirms the Sixth Form as a place where students exceed expectations and secure pathways to exciting and ambitious destinations.

Students in our Sixth Form make above average progress, compared to students in other schools.

A-Level grades A*-E have risen to 96.7%, up from 88.4% last year, and A*-B has increased from 35.7% to 40.0%.  Trends across Value Added and Average Points have continually increased over the last four years.

Headteacher Mr. Andy McGinnes said:

Four years ago, students leaving our Sixth Form were finishing a little below where they should have been. Today they are finishing ahead of it. That turnaround is not an accident – it is the product of relentless work by staff who have embedded a new culture, and by students who trusted us and were equally relentless in approaching their studies. These exemplary standards embody The Buckingham Way. Success for All.

 

What I am proudest of is that it has happened right across the school. Our vocational students have made even stronger progress than our A-Level students, demonstrating that it is not just a story about a handful of high-flyers. It is a story about a Sixth Form that works for every young person.

 

To the class of 2026 – you have set the standard. We are bursting with pride. Well done, all of you.

• George Pearson achieved a Distinction* in Business Studies, a Grade A in A-Level Maths, a B in Geography and a Pass in Sports Leaders
• Manuthi Wijegoonawardena achieved an A* in Criminology, B grades in A-Level Film and A-Level History and an A* in EPQ
• Bella Allen achieved a Distinction* in Applied Psychology, B grades in A-Level English Literature and History and a grade A in her EPQ
• Stanley Jackson achieved a Distinction* in Business Studies, B grades in A-Level Film and History and a Pass in Sports Leaders
