How we Assess Impact

How we measure and assess the impact of the careers programme

At The Buckingham School we use the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks as a foundation when planning our careers programme.  The effectiveness of our provision is reviewed via the Compass Plus online evaluation tool.  This tool is used by schools and colleges in England to support the analysis and evaluation of careers activity against the eight benchmarks of best practice.  It ensures that the development of our careers strategy is ongoing.

The tool was built in partnership with the Gatsby Charitable Foundation, to help us to easily discover our strengths and find areas for improvement. Evaluation of the careers activity takes place when students are in Year 7 (KS3), at the end Year 9 – when students make the transition to KS4 - and again in Year 13 (KS5).

Once the evaluation has been completed, the tool provides us with a report and resources to help us to achieve each benchmark.
