Friends of Buckingham (PTA) - letter dated 23 November 2021

Dear Parent / Carer
I am writing to you with exciting news in the journey of the school. This academic year, we will be setting up our very own PTA (Parent Teacher Association), which will be called ‘Friends of Buckingham School’ – affectionately known as ‘FOBS’.
What is a PTA?
A PTA is a great way to bring together parents, students, teachers and the local community to raise funds and to support the school. This is generally done by members of the PTA organising, running and attending events that increase family engagement with the school, improve communications and raise money for assets that will enrich school life.
Who can join?
Everyone in the school community will automatically be a member of FOBS and you’ll be able to see what we’ve been doing and how you can get involved through our social media channels and newsletters. If you are interested in being on the committee, you would need to be available for committee meetings approximately once per month, during an evening. The meetings will be focused around what events could be planned, what fundraising is required, and why and how communication out to the school community can be improved.
What needs to happen next?
In order to gain your feedback on the running of FOBS and, more importantly, being putting together a committee, please can I ask that you complete the following survey: https://forms.gle/UbX5W8W4XoEozcfg8
NB: You don’t have to be interested in being on the committee to complete the survey. Everyone’s ideas are welcome and the more families that complete the survey, the better understanding we will have of what the needs of our community are.
I look forward to hearing from you and meeting lots of you over the next year at some exciting events for our school community.
Yours faithfully
Miss R Branson Assistant Headteacher
