At this time, several committee positions are vacant. Without a newly elected committee or at least 5 members, the PTA may unfortunately need to be dissolved. This meeting is an important opportunity for our school community to come together, ask questions, and consider getting involved.

This session will focus on Barriers to Attending School, and the 'push, pull” factors which impact on attendance. We will be sharing strategies on how to help a young person overcome their barriers to attending and lead discussion around what else can be done to support them.

The support session is open to all parents/carers. 

Male staff will be growing moustaches, and we are encouraging all staff and students to move 60km across the month, representing the 60 men lost to suicide every hour. Our fundraising target is £1,000, which is less than £1 per student. Every contribution, message of support, or kilometre moved makes a difference.

This evening is set to be an excellent opportunity to explore the subject choices that are on offer to you next year and the opportunities that you can benefit from.

There will be two introductory speeches from Headteacher, Mr McGinnes, and Director of Sixth Form, Mrs Beaumont, where they will share with you some key insights into what makes our Sixth Form a great place to study and grow. 

Families will be able to explore subject areas of the school and to hear from our expert staff about what each subject is offering. During the evening, there will be some of our current Sixth Form students on hand to ask about their subjects and general Sixth Form life.

Students, staff, and families gathered at the school this morning to receive their results, celebrating a culmination of five years of hard work, dedication, and determination. The atmosphere was one of excitement and pride as envelopes were opened and students embraced their achievements.

Among the highlights of this year’s results:

• A strong increase in the number of students achieving grades 9-7 across a range of subjects.
• Particularly strong performances in subjects such as Maths, Geography, Computer Science, Spanish and Photography, with many students surpassing their target grades.
• Significant progress made by students of all abilities, reflecting the school’s commitment to inclusive, high-quality education.

There are many individual success stories amongst this cohort including:- 

• Dylan Perera who achieved 10 GSCEs or equivalent, including a grade 9 in Computer Science, grade 8 in English Language, French, Geography, Maths and Physics, grade 7 in Biology and English Literature, grade 6 in Chemistry, and a grade 5 in Design and Technology.
• Nathan Watson who achieved 11 GSCEs or equivalent, including grade 9 in Maths and Biology, grade 8 in French, Geography, Physics and Further Maths, grade 7 in Chemistry and PE, grade 6 in Art and English Language and a grade 5 in English Literature.
• Raya Gospodinova who achieved 10 GSCEs or equivalent, including grade 8 in French, Geography, Maths, Psychology and Chemistry, grade 7 in English Language, Biology, English Literature and Sociology, and grade 6 in Physics.

Headteacher, Andy McGinnes, expressed immense pride in the students' achievements, stating: "We are incredibly proud of our students for their hard work, the commitment and dedication of our teaching and pastoral staff, and the unwavering support of their families. We are totally committed to continuing our Vision of “Success for All” ensuring that every student reaches their full potential.” 

Students and staff have worked tirelessly over the last year to secure an increase in A-Level and BTEC equivalent grades at A*-C from 66% to 81% and an increase in A*-A attainment from 16% to 24%.

This year’s results highlight the continued upward trend in academic performance at the school.  With the majority of our students securing places at their first choice universities, apprenticeships, and employment pathways.

We believe passionately in The Buckingham Way which expects our Sixth Form students to demonstrate Exemplary standards, personally and academically.  It’s fair to say that these results reflect the very best of our wonderful school, and are the product of the hard work of both our staff and students. We are bursting with pride - well done everyone!”

We would like to take this opportunity to invite all prospective parents/carers and children for Year 7 September 2026 admission, to our Open Evening, which will take place on Thursday 18 September 2025 from 16:30 until 19:30.

The evening will consist of three sessions; the first session is a tour only for those short on time. Student Peer Mentors will then take you around the School, visiting each curriculum area. There will be presentations, displays of work and a range of interactive and fun activities for your child to engage in across the curriculum. There will be an opportunity to meet the staff, our students, see our facilities and sample our caterer's food in our dining room.

The two later sessions (17:00 & 18:00) will commence with a Headteacher’s talk, followed by a tour of the School. All tours are expected to last approximately one hour. All tours will pass through outdoor areas, regardless of weather conditions. In the event of rain, you may wish to bring an umbrella with you!

There are limited tickets available for each option and, due to capacity, we are limiting tickets to a maximum of 3 per family. A ticket will need to be booked for each attendee, including children.

In Term 6 and the upcoming academic year, we aim to sharpen our focus on key areas to ensure all students become dedicated learners, as mere compliance is not enough.

We are delighted to invite all Year 5 parents and carers to join us at one of our Open Mornings on Tuesday 24th June 2025, or Thursday 26th June 2025.During our Open Mornings, which both start at 9.30am, the Headteacher will welcome you before our students take you on a tour of our school. We want you to see our school in action, so that you can be impressed first-hand by our hard-working students.  You will also have the chance to meet members of the Senior Leadership Team and key pastoral staff.

It has been an incredible journey for the school and the improvements we have seen in the behaviour of our students have been significant. We are delighted to say that following our exceptional progress in embedding a culture of good behaviour, we have seen other schools approach us for advice, and this acknowledgement from the DfE in confirming our "Graduation".

Starting this Friday, 17 January, all-year groups are invited to a combined session from 6:00-7:30 PM. It's a fantastic chance to improve your basketball skills, have fun, meet new friends and stay active.

This club will provide students with a fantastic opportunity to develop physical fitness, self-discipline, and confidence through Martial Arts training.

The club will be run by experienced instructor, Michael Bruder, who is an ex-student of The Buckingham School and now runs his own business, M.R.B Martial Arts - a reputable organisation known for its engaging and professional Martial Arts coaching.

As students move into KS4, they are given choices of the subjects that they would like to study. All students will follow the core curriculum of English Language GCSE, English Literature GCSE, Mathematics GCSE, Science GCSE, PE for health and fitness, Personal Development and Philosophy and Ethics. They are then required to pick four further subjects.

The aim of our Options Process is simple: every student should be given the opportunity to choose a broad and balanced curriculum that suits their interests and future aspirations. In order to support you and your child in making this important decision we have put in place the following timeline:-

We would like to invite Year 11 families to attend our upcoming Sixth Form Open Evening, which will be taking place on Wednesday 27 November 2024, 17:30 - 20:00.

This evening is set to be an excellent opportunity to explore the choices that are on offer to you next year and the opportunities that you can benefit from.

During the evening, there will be 2 introductory speeches from Mr McGinnes, Headteacher and Mrs Beaumont, Director of Sixth Form, where we will share with you some key information about our Sixth Form and the opportunities it can offer you.

Attending these speeches is not compulsory, but will be really useful in giving you a feel for what our Sixth
Form is about.
