Dance Extravaganza

The dance extravaganza is taking place this summer in July 11th. It’s time for the students to shine!  This is an opportunity for the students to show off their talent. The year 11’s are the only people who can do solos as a way of saying goodbye. This emotion that they put into their dance really captivates the audience.

Anyone is welcome to take part in the show. You are allowed to do any dance you want. The room will be filled with parents teachers and friends. So either if you are a performer or spectator you will be guaranteed to enjoy yourself! You can also see the winners from the primary dance extravaganza from KS1 and KS2.

Drama Curriculum

The drama curriculum is a dynamic yet also engaging subject to be involved in. The subject area is run by M.s Rachel Hunt. The course involves

. OCR exam board

.30% performance of a text to an examiner

.30% coursework

.40% written exam based on blood brothers

Music Curriculum

The music curriculum ideally requires you to play an instrument prior the start of the course as this will enable you to get a head start and overall get a higher grade as you don’t have to go through the process of learning to read sheet music and get to know an instrument. You must play a solo or ensemble or group piece at the end of year 11. If you do not do this you will fail the course. And the higher the difficulty, the better mark you will get.

Drama Club

The drama club is currently working on the show Alice in Wonderland. And the club is run by senior drama leader Emily Adamson. She has given the kids their characters, and are now in the rehearsal stages of the show.

The keen year 7’s take up most of the space in the club and are starting to develop as young actors! There are a total of 10-15 students who attend each week. Emily has recruited year 9 and 10 to help out.

Luffield Creative Writing:

The creative writing piece that the kids had to produce was about world book day. Due to the snowy weather conditions they could not go to Luffield. But they continued to go around the school and ask the members of staff what books they enjoy reading and what books are important to them. The creativity was truly flowing!  What was great to see was their enthusiasm for finding out from all staff.
