Tuesday 24th November (School is closed) & Community Update
Dear Parents and Carers
We are writing to remind you, as per the Headteacher’s letter before the half term break, that The Buckingham School will be closed to all students for a single day on Tuesday 24th November. This will allow some deep cleaning to take place and for us to stress test our remote learning systems. Your child(ren) are expected to engage fully in a day of learning, which will set up and ready for them on the day.On a completely different note, a highly visible police presence around our school last week has understandably attracted attention. Following numerous reports of anti-social and more serious criminal activity in the community in the last couple of weeks, the police have taken the decision to increase their presence in the town at the moment. It is intended to be reassuring that student’s see the police around and about as they leave school at the end of the day. In the past we have enjoyed other high profile collaboration with the police, such as the visit of police dog-handlers last year.
The town’s secondary schools are working closely together and with the authorities to ensure the police are as informed as possible about the identity and activity of certain adult males outside our school communities.
