The Buckingham School

Wear A Hat Day, Friday 27 March 2020

The Buckingham School would like to invite students to wear a hat or hair accessories to raise funds and awareness for vital research into brain tumours.

Brain Tumour Research was chosen by Silverstone House because it is a charity that works to find a cure for brain tumours which “kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer and just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease”.  As this disease is more prevalent than any other cancer in children, students felt they could relate to this charity and wanted to support their work.

In order to raise money, we are asking for a £1 donation from students and staff to wear a hat (or head/hair accessories – no masks!) for the day. This donation can be made via ParentMail anytime between now and 27th March. Should you have any issues accessing this site, please email Mrs Newall at gnewall@buckinghamschool.org.  All money raised will go to Brain Tumour Research so they can further their research into finding a cure for brain tumours. We will also be running a number of events during break and lunchtime.

There will be a hat creation house competition for Year 7, a “Guess the teacher in the hat” competition and a “Mad Hatter’s Tea Party” (bake sale) at break time.

If you would like to bake or donate some cakes for this great cause, it would be very much appreciated. Please can all donations be brought to Student Office before 11:00am on the day. Thank you for your continued support and should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Kathryn Hare, Silverstone Head of House at khare@buckinghamschool.org
